Product information "Saucer Magnolia"
Anyone who has ever seen an old saucer magnolia in full bloom has probably stopped to look at it in peace. The huge, tulip-shaped flowers cover the plant in an incredible abundance. They have a white base colour with a hint of pink to purple pink at the base.Huge magnolia leaves
After flowering, the huge, elegant leaves appear. They reach a length of up to 15 cm and shine in a fresh, bright green colour. Another eye-catcher are the red, elongated fruits that decorate the plant in late summer and autumn.
Open space for the saucer magnolia!
Although saucer magnolias grow relatively slowly with an annual growth of about 25 cm. Nevertheless, old plants reach a height and width of 3 to 6 m. Since saucer magnolias form very picturesque, large shrubs or small trees by themselves, they should be pruned as little as possible. Give your magnolia plenty of room for development and watch it grow more and more beautiful from year to year.
The perfect place for magnolias
Saucer magnolias love slightly acidic, humus and evenly moist soil. They are not suitable for alkaline soils because their foliage then turns yellow (chlorosis). They grow equally well in the sun and partial shade and prefer sheltered garden areas. In principle, you can cultivate saucer magnolias for several years in large plant pots. If they have become too expansive, they can be replanted in the garden. Or you can use containers from the beginning for weaker growing magnolias such as the star magnolia or the purple magnolia.
