Product information "Field maple"

Acer campestre, also called field maple, is a medium sized (10 m), deciduous tree with a compact, bushy crown and dense branching. It has reddish brown buds and bright yellow autumn colouration. The field maple prefers calcareous soils and it also tolerates shade during the initial stages of its life. During its seed-bearing years it has higher light requirements. Its small yellow/green flowers that appear in May are rather unremarkable; they are followed by characteristic winged fruits.
Acer campestre is a native tree and is often grown as a small, so-called hedgerow tree and at forest edges. It tolerates pruning well; field maple should be trimmed to shape at the beginning of winter.
