Prunus padus, also known as bird cherry or hackberry, has numerous, white, fragrant flowers that appear in April and May. Black, grape-like seeds ripen from July to August.This deciduous small tree or large shrub reaches a height between 8-15 m and is used for the open landscape. It is suitable for sunny to partially shaded locations; it tolerates a wide range of soils, though prefers well-drained soil. It is noted for attracting wildlife.
