Product information "Common Broom 'Luna'"

The broom 'Luna' is striking in its flowering period from May to June. During this time, the ornamental shrub is densely covered with yellow butterfly flowers. The petite florets cover the entire length of the shoot (up to 2 m) and so hardly anything of the leaves can be seen during the flowering period. Incidentally, the leaves often fall off shortly after the flowering and there is no cause for concern. The plant has simply done its duty and duty and is waiting for the next spring...The growth is tight, upright and very dense; it can reach a height of up to 2 m and at this height, the broom 'Luna' grows about 1.5 m wide. And now imagine this handsome shrub, 2 m high, 1.5m wide and densely branched, decorated from bottom to top with yellow flowers: it is a real pleasure! By the way, it is also attractive for pollen-collecting insects like bees and butterflies!

Location for Cytisus scoparius: sunny and hot
Cytisus scoparius 'Luna' loves sunny and hot sites, but is a little prone to dryness, so a well-watered location should be chosen. The soil may be sandy and nutrient-poor; by nodule bacteria in the root area, the plant is hoping to break the nitrogen in the soil and thus upgrade poor soils. Preferably, the soil should be slightly acidic or neutral. In cold areas, winter protection is recommended. Ideally, the broom 'Luna' can be used as a solitary plant or for groups.

Pruning broom 'Luna'
Since the plant grows very dense, it should be regularly thinned out, in which the oldest and thickest shoots are removed on the inside after flowering. If the shrub is too large or loses its willingness to bloom, it can also be radically cut to 50 cm. For a radical cut, however, the plant will not flower the next year.
