Product information "Japanese Azalea 'Diamant Rosa'®"
Rhododendron obtusum 'Diamant Rosa'® impresses with its low, cushion-shaped growth. It only reaches a height of 30 to 40 cm and grows very dense and slow. Old plants can reach 80 to 90 cm in diameter.A lush abundance of flowers
Starting in mid-May, the entire plant is covered with a pink sea of flowers, so that the leaves are practically unseen. A single flower has a diameter of 2 to 3 cm and is wide open.
No airs and graces
The Japanese Azalea 'Diamant Rosa'® thrives in the sun or part shade and is reliably frost hardy. Its compact growth makes pruning measures completely unnecessary. The leathery, fresh green, shiny foliage is very decorative even during the winter. The only thing that this reliable garden plant absolutely requires for it to thrive is appropriate soil conditions – i.e. an acidic soil in the range of 4.5 to 5.5. If your garden soil is too alkaline, you can make it more acidic with peat or by using rhododendron soil.
Likes to be in the foreground
With its dense, cushion-shaped habit, the azalea 'Diamant Rosa'® should have a place in the foreground. It is ideal for planting in front of higher rhododendrons or lavender heather. But this compact beauty is also ideally suited for planters. Here it decorates courtyards, entrances and terraces with its shiny foliage and its early summer flowers.
