Product information "Japanese Azalea 'Petticoat'®"

The special feature of the Japanese azalea 'Petticoat'® is its flower form: The pure pink flowers are densely filled. In the middle they are slightly lighter coloured and have a yellow glow. In addition, they have a delicate, maroon marking. The flowering period extends from mid-May to June.
Simple, no airs and graces

Despite its delicate flowers, Rhododendron obtusum 'Petticoat'® is robust and uncomplicated. It thrives in the sun or partial shade and it is reliably frost hardy. Due to its dense, compact growth, pruning is not necessary. The deep dark green, glossy foliage is very decorative and stays on the plant for a long time.
Versatile in beds and containers

In the garden 'Petticoat'® can be combined very well with other rhododendrons and azaleas. But even lavender heath, Skimnien and perennials such as Hosta, purple bell or Bergenien are good companions. In Japanese planters the Japanese azalea 'Petticoat'® decorates terraces, courtyards and entrance areas and looks good all year round with its beautiful foliage.
Requires acidic soil!

The only thing you should be aware of when it comes to azaleas and rhododendrons is their preference for acidic soils – at a pH of 4.5 to 5.5 they feel well and grow optimally. If necessary, you must prepare your garden soil with peat or rhododendron soil. You should also use rhododendron soil when planting pots.
