Product information "Ginkgo, Maidenhair Tree"
In botanical systems, which are primarily concerned with the structure and developmental history of a plant’s flower, the maidenhair tree is associated with the conifers, although its fan-shaped leaves are more likely to suggest a deciduous tree. Its origin is in China, where it grows in forests and can reach stately heights up to 35 m. Already around 1730 it was brought in to Europe from Japan.Needs space in the long-term
With the maidenhair tree you will get a real tree in your garden, which after a few decades can also reach a height of 15 to 30 m. The annual growth is 30 to 40 cm high and 20 to 25 cm wide. As a young plant, this fascinating tree can be kept for a few years in a pot. If it grows too large for its container at some time, a suitable garden or park plot can be found for this beautiful plant species.
Attractive year-round
The maidenhair tree has a stately stature with broad branches and grey, shimmering bark. After a spectacular, bright yellow autumn colouring it loses his folia. The leaves come out again in April. The beautiful, fan-shaped foliage is fresh green – the parallel-arranged leaf veins are also striking.
