Product information "Golden Elm 'Wredei'"

Golden Elm 'Wredei'

The golden elm scores with its foliage: it is bright yellow at bud break and later turns into a bright yellowish green. Moreover, it is very dense and has slightly wavy edges.

Tree-like growth

Ulmus hollandica 'Wredei' grows as a shrub or a small tree. The lateral branches are upright and the growth is usually wide and columnar-shaped. Although the golden elm grows relatively slowly with an annual growth of about 15 cm, it reaches a height of 5 to 8 m after many years. This decorative tree should therefore be given enough space.

Sun or partial shade

The golden elm flourishes in both the sun or partial shade. In hot spots with very strong sunshine, however, leaf burn can occur. This plant prefers loose, deep, nutrient-rich soils and also grows easily in very calcareous locations. Moreover, it is reliably frost hardy. Due to its slow growth, Ulmus hollandica 'Wredei' can also be cultivated in planters for several years, for example in courtyards or on terraces. When it grows out of its pot, this decorative tree can be planted in the garden.
