Product information "Artemisia absinthium"
Wormwood grows up to one meter high and has a highly branched stems. The leaves are threefold pinnate and have a grey-green colour. There are silver-grey hairs on the stems and leaves. The flower heads form a nodding, branched panicle; the flowers are yellow in colour and appear round. Wormwood belongs to the genus Artemisia and blooms from July to September. It is found in dry areas in Europe, Asia and North Africa and grows along roadsides, on rocky slopes and wasteland. Wormwood is native to southern Europe. In the Middle Ages, it was taken by monks to Central Europe and then cultivated in monastery gardens. Wormwood has a spicy scent. With its strong bitter flavour, wormwood is one of the main bitter herbs, which are used to strengthen digestion. This is might be where the saying “a drop of bitterness” comes from, which is sometimes used to describe the only negative thing about something that is otherwise positive.Flower colour: Yellow
