Product information "Dicentra spectabilis"

Bleeding heart is one of the most popular late spring bloomers because it gives every bed in the garden a special, romantic touch with its arched flower stalks and hanging heart-shaped flowers. It has a clump-like habit and grows larger each year. Above the silvery green, relatively fine foliage, the arched flowering shoots bloom from April to June.  They are covered with pinkish red, heart-shaped flowers and a whitish tear that seems to drip. After flowering, the aboveground part withers relatively quickly. It is therefore best to plant concealing companion plants in order to cover the bald spot in the bed. Dicentra spectabilis prefers semi-shaded locations with nutrient-rich, humus-rich soils. It can be planted in partially shaded perennial beds and borders, under shrubs, in cottage gardens, containers and troughs. Its flowers give bouquets that certain romantic something.
