Product information "Campanula latifolia var. macrantha 'Alba'"

This native bellflower has particularly large, beautiful, bell-shaped flowers and therefore should be in every garden. It has a clump-forming and upright habit. Varied flowering shoots appear in June and July above the lanceolate, heart-shaped, pointed, lush green foliage. Its pure white single flowers can grow up to 5 cm tall and form up to 100 cm long flower spikes. This plant prefers loose, rich, well- drained, relatively nutrient-rich, even calcareous soils and loves sunny to semi-shady locations. It performs especially well in perennial beds, mixed borders and natural plantings as well as near shrubs. In good soil conditions it even grows under sparse treetops. However, it partially dies back in very dry summers. In large area plantings, this bellflower can quickly achieve large stocks, by allowing itself to reseed. At all other sites, however, pruning after flowering is recommended. The giant, bell-shaped flowers also give a very special character to bouquets.
