Product information "Echinops bannaticus 'Blue Glow'"

Blue globe thistle is a special feast for the eyes in perennial beds. Its steel blue, ball-shaped flowers are an attraction for many a butterfly. This perennial has an upright, loosely clump-like, sometimes heavily branched habit. From early July, the large, almost steel blue, globular flowers that stand terminally on sturdy stem appear above the light greyish green, pinnate, hairy, slightly felted leaves. Echinops bannaticus 'Blue Glow' prefers locations in full sun with fresh, well-drained soils. Echinops are particularly suitable for large perennial beds, natural plantings, near shrubs and as a solitary plant. Pruning after the first flowering promotes a second bloom in autumn. The steel blue, ball-shaped flowers are very decorative in bouquets and are also well suited for dried arrangements.
