Product information "Helleborus niger"

When everything else is still in hibernation, the Christmas rose or black hellebore has the garden to itself.
Helleborus niger is a robust, very hardy garden beauty that enchants with its large, white-cupped flowers.
Depending on the weather, one can expect to see the first flowers from late December to March.
The evergreen foliage, with deeply notched, dark green leaves, adorns the garden year round.
This perennial likes semi-shady areas near shrubs and loose, humus-rich soil, which can also be somewhat loamy, however without waterlogging.
It can even be grown in pots, but they should have a good drainage and be rather high because Helleborus niger is deeply rooted.
Christmas roses should be left at their location once selected; they do not like to be frequently transplanted. If they are left to grow in peace, they will develop into luxuriant plant groups.
