This hollyhock has the same characteristics as their double-bloomed sister varieties. The variety 'Mars Magic' has bright red-coloured, simple flowers. They bloom all summer long and well into autumn. Also, it forms candle-shaped inflorescences with bright red flowers above the dark green foliage. Alcea rosea grows from about 180 to 200 cm high. A sunny location with fresh and well-drained soil benefits its growth. The flowering period is extended by a pruning all the faded flowers. This plant is a real eye-catcher is in any perennial border, along fences and walls and as a background plant in large beds and in cottage gardens.Flower colour: Red

Is Alcea rosea Spotlight Series 'Mars Magic' immune to the rust, like Alcalthaea x suffrutescens 'Parkrondell'? I love hollyhocks but I'm put off growing them by the disease.
