Product information "Angelica gigas"
Giant angelica is a true eye-catcher for the background of many plantings; it is originally from Korea. It has wide, sweeping, upright growth and grows up to 180 cm high. Its stems are very thick, hollow at the base and finely wrinkled, branched on top and usually reddish. While the lower leaves are two to three times pinnate and have round stems and large leaf sheaths, the upper stem leaves are smaller and only simply pinnate. In mid-summer, this plant opens its very distinctive, dark red flowers; one can set strong accents with this plant and yet it looks natural. Giant angelica loves moist nutrient-rich, loamy soil and grows well in sun as well as in partial shade. It is very well suited for semi-natural plantings by hedges or larger ponds. The plant should be pruned before it forms seeds, in order to promote its perennial nature and to prevent self-sowing. Its seed pods are very decorative when dried.Flower colour: Red, violet/purple
