This astilbe is an interesting shrub for partially shaded locations. Its feathery, purple-pink panicles appear above the compound, dark green foliage from August until well into September. Its growth is slightly creeping with short rhizomes. This plant prefers a partially shaded to shaded location with fresh to moist, nutrient-rich soil. This pretty perennial can be used in shady perennial beds, near streams and beds near ponds, or at the edge of shrubs. It has an especially nice effect in conjunction with larger ferns, Lindheimer's beeblossom, hostas and great masterwort. This astilbe also gives bouquets a certain lightness with its appearance.
