Product information "Astilboides tabularis"

Astilboides is a particularly impressive eye-catcher in any garden. The circular, umbrella-like leaves of this perennial are attractive; they can reach a diameter of up to 90 cm and a height of up to about 100 cm in this imposing foliage perennial. The flowers are similar to that of astilbe; the green-whitish panicles bloom from June to July. Astilboides forms rhizomes. At a suitable location and slightly higher humidity, this plant hardly needs care, however it will take many years to fully develop. Astilboides prefers moist, cool, rich, nutrient-rich soils and partial shade. Sunny locations can often cause burns on the leaves. This perennial is particularly beautiful when planted near water’s edge where it goes not get too wet. Karl Foerster decribed Astilboides tabularis planted together with the giant miscanthus (Miscanthus x giganteus) as a drumbeat and trumpet.
