Product information "Begonia grandis ssp. evansiana"

In our latitudes there are very few begonias which are sufficiently hardy. Begonia grandis ssp. evansiana is one of them. It is a must for any garden lover. It has typical, heart-shaped, slightly serrated leaves, which have dark red veins. Against the light, the leaf undersides appear bright red. From June until August, the typical, small begonia flowers appear in soft pink. A shady location with fresh, humus-rich soil is preferred. This plant can enrich any shady flower bed and it is also suitable for container plantings. This begonia should have a light winter protection in the form of leaf cover. It produces its shoots rather late, but it is a special eye-catcher throughout the entire summer. It can be propagated via bulblets that are formed during the summer. In favourable locations, it even produces seeds.
