Product information "Acorus calamus"
Sweet flag or calamus is native to eastern and southern Asia and was taken to Europe as a hardy water plant around the year 1700. From June to July, small, yellowish-green flowers appear above the basal tuft of leaves with erect stems. The leaves are narrow and sword-shaped at the tips. The spadix, like the entire flower, exudes a fine, aromatic fragrance. It grows with creeping rhizomes and spreads vigorously and should therefore only be planted in large ponds. This plant for pond edges grows particularly well in mucky waters up to a water depth of 30 cm. Acorus calamus has very high nutritional requirements and is therefore very suitable for restoring bodies of water. The location should be loamy to loamy-sandy and in full sun to partial shade. Sweet flag has always been a medicinal plant and belongs to the group of aromatic bitters.Flower colour: Green
