Product information "Aquilegia vulgaris"

The columbine or common columbine, also called forest columbine, is a type of plant from the crowfoot family. It has an upright, loose habit. Its leaves are lobed two to three times and they have a matte, blue-green colour. From May to June, violet-blue flowers appear with a yellow corolla, arranged in panicles with long spurs. Columbines love semi-shaded to sunny locations with well-drained, moderately moist, humus-rich to nutrient-rich soil. They are particularly suitable for semi-shaded perennial borders, in the foreground of hedge plantings and modern cottage gardens. Grown together with ferns and hostas, they have a particularly beautiful and graceful effect.
