Product information "Carex acuta"
Acute sedge or slender tufted-sedge is a undemanding shore inhabitant near stagnant water. It is a rather delicate representative among the sedges. It is a swamp and shallow water plant with grass green, triangular, elongated, sharp-edged leaves. It forms loose, grassy stocks with many, long underground runners. In May and June, it forms tightly erect, brownish flower spikes that slightly nod at their tips. It prefers nutrient-rich, more or less half-bog, sand, loam and clay soils in a sunny location, if possible. Since it spreads very strongly, acute sedge should be planted in the garden pond in plant baskets and not directly into the pond. It forms a strong root system and deprives the pond of excess nutrients. Together with other marsh plants such as purple loosestrife, water forget-me-not and monkey-flowers, acute sedge is particularly attractive.Flower colour: Green
