Product information "Convallaria majalis"

Lily of the valley is a widespread native perennial with a wonderful intense fragrance. Its underground rhizomes quickly form dense carpets. Fine, white, bell-shaped flower spikes rise above the linear, wide, lanceolate, pointed, dark green leaves starting in early May. The flowers develop only on two-year-old shoots. By contrast, the one-year shoots only form leaves. Lily of the valley prefers shady to semi-shady locations with fresh, humus and nutrient-rich soils. It can be used in light shade under woody plants and in shady perennial beds. A bouquet using lily of the valley is very fine and delicate due to its fragrance. However, children need to steer clear of the red berries because this plant is highly toxic.
