Product information "Aster novae-angliae 'Barr's Blue'"

This New England aster is an absolute eye-catcher in autumn perennial beds; it glows with its violet-blue flower colour in the background of larger plantings. It has clump-forming, dense growth and does not form rhizomes. The violet-blue flowers appear from early September until well into October on relatively upright, 160 cm long flower stems that are covered with dark green, lance-shaped, finely hairy leaves. This plant feels particularly comfortable in a sunny location with loamy to permeable soils. The New England aster 'Barr's Blue' is a perennial plant with autumn accents and in combination with other New England asters and tall grasses it creates a beautiful background for low-growing perennials in the foreground, which hide the somewhat bare stalks. New England asters also look very nice in front of autumn-coloured trees. In addition, New England asters are less susceptible to mildew when compared to New York asters. On the other hand, it is good if the plant is rejuvenated by division every few years.
