Product information "Adiantum pedatum"

Five-fingered maidenhair fern gets its name because of its fronds. It is a very delicate growing fern. It has very finely divided, light green to blue-green fronds that are spread out like a hand, hence the name five-fingered fern. These fronds sit on wiry, black, shiny stems. Adiantum pedatum is a very slow growing fern, which grows wider and bigger very slowly by spreading with weak-growing rhizomes. Five-fingered maidenhair ferns come from North America and from East Asia and the Himalayas. This fern is particularly suitable for humid, loose, humus, lime-poor, protected locations in partial shade. It is particularly beautiful when used in combination with low-growing hostas, astilbe, autumn anemones and barrenwort. It feels particularly comfortable in a perennial bed in the sparse shade of woody plants and it gives shaded perennial beds aspecial flair. Its fronds provide bouquets with a delicate and romantic touch. Tip: slight coverage with brushwood during the risk of late frosts prevents this very early sprouting fern from freezing back.
