Product information "Epimedium x warleyense 'Orange Königin'"

Barrenworts are among the most valuable ground cover perennials that can be used for naturalising under trees. Epimedium x warleyense 'Orange Königin' forms dense carpets of foliage via its flat, carpet-like and densely branched habit; the plant propagates itself by short runners. The bud is a spectacular bronze colour with a reddish tinge. Starting in April, bright orange, slightly upwardly arched flowers that are in clusters with up to 25 individual flowers appear above the shiny green, slightly toothed leaves. Barrenworts prefer semi-shaded to shady locations with fresh, humus-rich soils that do not dry out. This perennial can be ideally used in large-scale area plantings in front of and under trees. The foliage in autumn is red and remains on the plant when the winters are not too severe. Good partners for barrenworts are arum lilies, Bergenia, forget-me-nots, variegated sedges, sweet woodruff, blue-leaved and white-variegated hostas, great woodrush, angular Solomon's seal and others.
