Product information "Festuca amethystina"

Very elegant overhanging fescue variety that is has a colourful play of the blades that range from blue-green in summer to purple-brown tones later in autumn. Small, violet-purple flower spikes appear in June-July that “float” over the other blades.
This is a very undemanding plant for locations in full sun, in which the bluish tint develops the best. Moderate to fresh soil without waterlogging is optimal for Festuca amethystina.
Tufted fescue should be divided every two years, which prevents it from getting too old in the middle. Pruning in spring is also recommended in order to obtain a bushy habit.
Good partners for the tufted fescue include different grasses, Calluna vulgaris and smaller Juniperus varieties.
Heath gardens, rockeries and troughs are a few of the many uses for Festuca amethystina.
