Product information "Festuca mairei"

The majestic, elegant habit of Maire's fescue or atlas fescue, above which the twice as high flower stalks teeter in the wind during the summer, is an asset to any garden.

In the winter, the grey-green stalks turn to a yellowish brown colour, which does not detract to the filigree elegance. The frosted stalks are an additional eye-catcher in the winter, so do not cut back until spring.

Festuca mairei is extremely heat-tolerant and even loves sites where the midday heat exudes down. Due to the flowering period, it is a good partner for roses, where its fine blades provide a loose habit.
The soil should be light and permeable. It has normal winter hardiness, but needs some protection when there is black frost.
