thornless (Joyce )
We grow the Medana and it is painfully thorny. We'd love to try another thornless type other than Buckingham tayberry which was very vigorous, but never produced a single flower in the 5 years planted in rich soil so we put the original thorny one in its place, no problem fruiting but ouch those thorns!!!. Is your thornless type a unique Lubera cultivar? Thanks
tayberry (Thuc-Nghi A-B)
Please can you tell me if your Easy Tay Tayberry are thornless. Also, I read that it is necessary to protect a Tayberry with a net or else the birds will strip them off the bush. Is this true? Looking forward to receiving your response. Many thanks!
tayberry (Sonja Dreher)
Hello,
yes, the Tayberries are thornless. Sure it is better to protect the fruit, because once the birds have discovered, that the Tayberries taste good, they will start harvesting ;-)
kind regards
your Lubera Team
Type of tayberry (Jane)
Is your tayberry same as Medana one? Thankyou.
pruning tayberries (Lesley Underwood)
My tayberries have nearly finished fruiting, can I prune the old growth to the ground and leave the new growth?
Tayberries (Your Lubera Team - Sonja Hendrischke)
Hello,
yes, you can prune the old growth. Leave a stem of 30cm lenght of it.
In March you can prune the new growth of last year just a little bit, new stems will also sprout again in spring.
Kind regards
Your Lubera Team
