Lubera stops plant deliveries to the UK
Due to Brexit, we are not able to deliver to the UK. We are working on a solution on how we can continue to bring a wide range of Lubera plants to the UK and directly to our customers' homes in the future. However, such a solution will not be available before 2022 or 2023.

Blueberries - a new research area at Lubera
In the last 5-10 years, blueberries have become one of the best-selling soft fruit species. We have therefore intensified our selection efforts accordingly and have selected the best tasting varieties for you (Blue Dessert, Blueroma, as well as Sunshine Blue). Thanks to our second production site in Ammerland near Oldenburg (with bog-like soil), we are now more and more intensely breeding and selecting blueberries. With regard to the global diversity of varieties and species it is first crucial to the test the blueberries, which are becoming increasingly popular, in terms of their suitability for gardens. Because even with the blueberries, as with many other types of fruit, they are almost only grown for commercial cultivation.

Planting (Nina Weatherill)

What time of year should I plant blueberry plants?

Blueberry for high altitude (Christine)

Hello, I live in France at an altitude of 950m. Wild blueberries grow prolifically in all the woods and moorland around here, but I would like to grow some hybrids with bigger fruit (and no risk of echinococcus). I can give them exactly the right soil in my garden, but I know some of the cultivated varieties are more delicate and prefer a warmer climate. Can you tell me if Blueroma and Blautropf would be suitable for my climate, or make other recommendations?

Blueberry for high altitude (Sonja Dreher)

Blueroma is no problem, Bluedrop would need some winterprotection. We would rather recomend Blue Dessert.
these two are deciduous and have neither problems with the height nor with the temperatures.

Kind regards
Your Lubera Team
