Product information "Dwarf Raspberry Lowberry® Goodasgold"

The Lowberry® dwarf raspberry Goodasgold is easy to spot. That was already the case in the breeding field when I first discovered it: in the back breeding row; in the first row it always shone bright yellow, when the rest of the raspberries were still immature. This early autumn raspberry bears fruit on this year’s canes; it starts to ripen before almost all of the other varieties, usually in the 3rd or 4th week of July, and the harvest lasts until the middle/end of September. This dwarf raspberry perfectly complements our Lowberry® raspberry assortment and fits especially well with Lowberry Little Sweet Sister®, as both varieties ripen very early. The dwarf raspberry Goodasgold matures perhaps 7-10 days later than Little Sweet Sister®.

Short Description of Dwarf Raspberry Lowberry® Goodasgold

Maturity/harvest: The dwarf raspberry Goodasgold bears fruit on this year's canes, usually very early
starting in the 2nd or 3rd week of July.

Fruits: The fruits are pale yellow, rather round than conical, medium to large; throughout the harvest season, they remain very stable in size, meaning that the size is maintained in August.

Flavour: Yellow raspberries are usually slightly milder than red raspberries; they have less acidity, which pleases the “sweet tooths” among the fruit lovers, but also makes the fruits a bit boring. Goodasgold is an exception and surprises with an upbeat aroma that has sourness (and enough sweetness).

Plant spacing: 30 cm in rows; when planted in a pot, a 10 - 20 L container should be used.

Growth: Goodasgold grows very compact, ultimately it is the early yield and the fast start of flowering that slows the growth. On average over the years, Goodasgold grows slightly stronger
than Little Sweet Sister® or Little Red Princess® and reaches a height of about 100 cm. Goodasgold has a few thorns, which get less towards the tips of the fruiting-bearing shoots.

Training/pot cultivation: Of course Goodasgold is suitable as a dwarf raspberry for pots. Here
we recommend using pot with a volume between 15 - 20 L; please pay attention that the drainage is sufficient. Like all dwarf raspberries, Goodasgold also has to grow first before the canes produce fruit; but that also means that flower buds located in the lower part of the mostly strong canes will overwinter until the next year. If you cut back Goodasgold in February to only about 30 cm, you will have an extra early, special yield on the 2-year-old canes in June.
