Product information "Moreberry® Pointilla®: yellow AND red Pointilla in one pot"

All Pointilla varieties are absolutely non-self-fertile. So if you want to admire and harvest the fine elegance of the berries in October and November, you have to plant two appropriate varieties together. And as close as possible to each other, so that the pollination will also work really well. We have done this part for you. With the moreberry Pointilla® we have planted two perfectly complementary and pollinating varieties in one pot! From August, the fruits are already fully coloured, and this colourful duet shines in all its beauty. Anyone who is tempted to step a bit closer will be enchanted by the thousands of glittering dots on the yellow and red berries.
Yellow and red? Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that we of course have picked out the best red and the best yellow varieties for the moreberry so that the duo colour really catches one’s eye. But the flavour requires some patience: in many cases it takes up into October until the berries are really ripe. This is the case when the sugar bounces in the fruit from one week to the next, or biochemically it is probably rather when the starch is converted into sugar. Then the Pointilla moreberries are ripe. Incidentally, they also taste significantly different; the yellow variety is milder, perhaps a little harmless and less conspicuous; with the red variety, the juxtaposition of acid and sugar, of fruitiness and astringency is the character trait that one cannot soon forget. The fruits make you want to try them again and again – while already nibbling on the bush.
What should they do otherwise? The duo dotberries score points:
• Non-self-fertile, but as a moreberry, an ideal mutual pollination is possible so that a full fruit set develops (one variety alone is non-self-fertile and bears no fruit)
• The red and yellow fruits form a strong contrast – even with the dark green colour of the leaves
• Simultaneous maturity
This Pointilla® duo berry is very suitable for small gardens because the two plants cannot be planted more compact. It is also an eye-catcher when used in hedges or borders. Yes, even when planted in a container, the moreberry Pointilla® is attractive; the ornamental value of the coloured berries fits particularly well to the beige flowers in the spring and later to the leaves that are reminiscent of olives and the south. However, do not use a container that is too small; it should have a volume of at least 50 to 60 litres.
These two varieties are planted together in the Moreberry Pointilla:
Pointilla Sweet'n'sour®
Berries: Beautiful, coral red berries, maybe a little brighter than Amoroso®; the berries are covered with white dots and they cover the shoots
Maturity/yield: Mid-October to early November; probably the best yield of all the varieties; approx. 4 kg is possible already in the 3rd year, later maturing than Amoroso®
Flavour: Exactly as the name describes. Reminiscent of the sparkling effervescent candy from our childhood. The aftertaste is slightly astringent, however it is not bothersome. It makes you want to eat more...
Growth: Compact, finer branched than Amoroso® and Fortunella®, can reach a height of up to 3 m high, limit the height in the garden to 2-2.5 m; planting distance: 1.5-2 m
Pollination: 100% non-self-fertile; choose the pollinator Fortunella®
Pointilla® Fortunella®
Berries: The size of currants, something larger than Sweet'n'sour® and  Amorosa ®, beautiful, amber yellow colour with white dots; the berries almost fully cover the 2-year-old shoots, great autumn colour from mid-September
Maturity/yield: Mid-October to early November; high to very high yielding, approx. 3-4 kg is possible in the 3rd year
Flavour: Lots of sweetness and lots of sourness, much more pleasant than a red currant, when fully ripe absolutely no astringency, has a slightly more rounded flavour than the red varieties
Height: Can reach up to 3-4 m high, however limit the height in the garden to 2.5 m, cut out shoots regularly that are 4-5 years old or older; planting distance: 1.5-2 m
Pollination: 100% non-self-fertile; choose the pollinator Sweet'n'sour®
