Product information "Strawberry Parfum Fraisibelle®"

Unlike Fraisonette®, Fraisibelle® has its strongest harvest in September. Of course, the yield begins in late May, but the variety is in its top form in autumn. The strong, stable and long flowering shoots are conspicuous; however they continue to be attentive early of the approaching harvest above the green leaves. The berries of Fraisibelle® are slightly larger than those of Fraisonette®, which are somewhat closer to the normal garden strawberry. However, they point out the crucial characteristic of the Parfum® strawberries: A wild strawberry flavour that is rounded and topped off by a particular fragrance. Due to the rather small number of runners, Fraisibelle® as well Fraisonette® are very suitable for growing in pots, even in balcony pots. It also makes sense to combine these two types because the harvests in the spring (Fraisonette®) and autumn (Fraisibelle®) complement each other perfectly.

Maturity: The first fruits are ripe rather late, early to mid-June, and then there is an ongoing yield with extremely strong yields in September
Fruits: Large, garden strawberry size, dark red, very beautiful
Taste/flavour: Aromatic with a sight fragrance; of all the everbearing Parfum® strawberries it comes perhaps the closest to the normal garden strawberry, and is farthest from the wild strawberry
Yield: A rather late yield in early summer, but with extremely strong yields in September. It is the best complement for its sister variety Fraisonette®, which shines due to its early harvest
Growth: The extremely long and stable flower stems that perch proudly above the foliage are typical, particularly in early summer; this repeats itself in autumn, only that there are much more flower stems and under the weight of the fruit, they tend to slowly hang on the ground or elegantly over the rim of the pot
Use: The ideal, early and productive, yet everbearing strawberry for pots; also for balcony boxes or underplantings
Crossing & selection: Crossing by Martin Weber, selected by Lubera, introduced in 2015

Everbearing Parfum® Strawberries
Actually, we have known about everbearing strawberries for a long time. They differentiate their flowers all summer long; the formation of the flowers is not dependent on the length of the day and we can harvest the fruits again and again. And there are...strawberries. But nothing more! Actually, we admit that certain something is lacking... and just that is what we were looking for in our strawberry breeding: everbearing strawberries that taste like strawberries are supposed to taste. They fit into every mouth, and they are not like bulky cones that block the mouth, but rather, they are enjoyed by the taste buds. The path to our new everbearing varieties led through Fragaria x vescana hybrids (several generations), until we found new everbearing strawberries for gardens that met our objectives and brought the best features of the garden strawberry and wild strawberry together. They are perfect in taste, they have an intense fragrance, they are extremely durable with fruitful yields, they have a pleasant, medium size - and all that throughout the entire summer...

Some of our everbearing Parfum® strawberries are closer to the modern garden strawberries; they are large, crisp and sweet (like Parfum® Ewigi Liebi); others have characteristics that are more similar to Vescana strawberries (e.g. Parfum® Fraisonette and Parfum® Fraisibelle). But they all have in thing common: The special fragrance, the perfume that immediately flows through the nose after enjoying the sweet berries. They are just strawberries that taste and smell like a strawberry.

Tips

Mulch everbearing strawberries   We know this from the June-bearing strawberries: after harvesting, the remaining leaves are cut away, the rotting leaves are removed, a bit of fertiliser is applied and the plant can gain new strength and form new flowers for next spring’s harvest. Question: does that even make sense make for everbearing strawberries? Yes, it can be useful if you want an even stronger and more concentrated harvest in autumn. For example: you can enjoy the harvest in June and early July; then mulch the everbearing strawberry plant, fertilise it, and go on vacation. After you return, the strawberry plants begin to bloom again intensively and they will then bring an unprecedented harvest at the end of August or in September.
