Average gram weight of Navaho fruits? (Tim)

HI I'm thinking of purchasing a Navaho BigandEarly. How much does an average blackberry fruit of BigandEarly berry weigh in grams compared to Navaho original? Thanks for your answer.

Average gram weight of Navaho fruits (Lubera)

Hi Tim, unfortunately, we do not know how difficult the fruit is. The fruit size is about 1/3 to 1/2 times as big as Navaho original. Best regards from Switzerland

Orange rust? (Shelagh)

Hi I read blackberry Navaho is extremely susceptible to orange rust and once seen the plant must be removed and destroyed. Are all the newer Navaho cultivars prone to this fungus? Thankyou for answer

Orange rust (Sonja Dreher)

up to now we do not have had any complaints, that the Navaho is often infested by Orange Rust. We did not have any feedback about this and in our nursery, on the test site, we never discovered a plant with this fungus.

kind regards
Sonja Dreher

Rust! (RHS Community)

The RHS has extensively tested many blackberry cultivars both old/new over the past few years and found blackberry Navaho to be very healthy. The RHS always welcomes the testing of new blackberry cultivars and if Lubera were to submit samples of blackberries Navaho Summerlong and Bigandearly they would be formally trialled and evaluated with pleasure by contacting us direct. Plant trials are currently being done.

Warmest Regards

Yield (Roger Baxter)

I read in lots of web pages on blackberries that blackberry Navaho yields 12 to 15 pounds(5 to 6kg) can I expect same amount from other Lubera Navaho strains? Thanks.

Blackberry Navaho (Your Lubera Team - Sonja Hendrischke)

the Navaho Bigandearly has quite a similar amount of fruit, if the surroundings suit her. It is also very resistant against pest and funghus, a good and healthy plant.

Kind regards
Your Lubera Team
Sonja Hendrischke

Fruit Yield (Martin)

If you get suckers and a big row then it will yield around 12 pounds, but realistically a single non suckering plant(they tend not too and it is rare) of any Navaho is 5 to 7 pounds a mound or about 3kg. The temperatures must be pretty consistent to achieve this like in The States to achieve these big over 10 pound yields.

Kg yields! (Frank)

Average Yield:
Navaho BigandEarly: 1-2 kg per plant(No suckering, good, strong crown forming!)

Navaho Summerlong 2-4kg per plant(adventitious root suckers sprout up sometimes in young plantings away from crown, but weak and spindly, so remove!), otherwise strong plant

Original Navaho 2-3 kg per plant, but if it suckers or planted in a row, yield will double as suckers spread. Strong, very robust plant growth!
