Planting a Lubera® Vite ™ asparagus plant

Location: Sunny, no shade
Soil: Sandy, deep. It should not be prone to waterlogging; good drainage of the soil is very important for the plant’s health
Fertilisation: Incorporate organic fertilisers (e.g. manure) into the soil one year before planting; the organic substance must be well rotted.
The soil should be well supplied with nutrients before planting. Use magnesium-enhanced fertiliser; the pH should be between 5.5 and 6.4.


Planting Lubera® green asparagus and purple asparagus
Planting: Plant almost level to the ground, approx. 3 cm below the soil.
Row spacing: 1.20 m.
Planting distance: 25–40 cm in the row
Harvest: Green and purple asparagus are not covered up; as soon as the shoots are 20–25 cm high, cut just below the ground (so that there is no chance for the asparagus fly to lay eggs). In the 2nd year after planting harvest 2 stalks per plant, in the 3rd year, 3–4 stalks per plant; harvest 6–8 stalks per plant starting in the 4th year.
Plant at least 8–12 plants for a good harvest; a lesser amount of plants can be planted if the asparagus will be used as a side dish and not as a main meal.
