Apart from its obvious ornamental value and in contrast to older Ipomea morning glories (which produce almost no tubers), 'Kaukura' is a versatile crop. Its leaves are tasty and rich in vitamins and minerals; it can be used in salads, smoothies and like spinach. The medium-sized tubers of this sweet potato variety also taste excellent. They can be used like carrots, eaten raw in salads, and cooked and baked for many traditional and exotic recipes. The tubers of the sweet potato Treasure Island 'Kaukura' are bright orange in colour and rich in beta-Carotene. This makes them a real superfood for health-conscious connoisseurs.

Tips

Growing in a pot Pot cultivation is useful in a container with a volume of at least 7-10 L. Remember that it needs enough volume to allow the tubers to develop freely.
