Product information "Clematis 'Purpurea Plena Elegans'"

Here’s good news for fans of double flowers: clematis viticella Purpurea Plena Elegans has nostalgic, double flowers that are almost reminiscent of roses. The vital and vigorous climbing plant forms many fine shoots with dense foliage. The plant reaches a growth height of 250 to 350 cm. From June to October, it forms lots of small, dark red, densely filled flowers. At 3 to 4 cm they are rather small. Due to the large number of flowers, however, an impressive colour effect results.
Clematis viticella Purpurea Plena Elegans grows uncomplicated and without allure in sunny to semi-shaded locations. Pergolas, trellises, house walls and stone walls can be elegantly landscaped with this plant. It is reliably hardy and is also suitable for planting permanently in containers. Every year in February the shoots of this clematis should be cut back between 20 to 50 cm.
The dark, matte red is beautiful in combination with white, light pink and bright blue tones. Good partners include, for example, the climbing roses Ilse Krohn Superior or New Dawn, the bright blue clematis viticella Prince Charles, different bellflowers and perennial phlox. By the way, this elegant beauty was bred in France.
