Product information "Dictamnus albus"

Dittany or burning bush is a rather rare plant that is not found in every garden. It grows clump-like and has mostly unbranched stems. Above its dark green, ash tree-like leaves, the very expressive, pink flowers in terminal clusters appear in May and June. This perennial prefers warm, sunny to semi-shady locations with well-drained, calcareous soils. Waterlogging causes damage. Dittany finds use in large rock gardens, perennial beds and near shrubs. It is an extremely long-lived perennial that has initial, hesitant growth, but from year to year it becomes more attractive and can stay planted at its original location for lifetime. The tart, lemony aroma of dittany spreads especially in intense sunlight. Towards evening, when the concentration of the essential oils in the air around the plant is at its highest, it can inflame. Dictamnus albus is a protected plant! And beware of this: Dictamnus albus often produces phototoxic reactions when it gets in contact with skin!
